8/2/06: Villa Fried Chicken

LOCATION:
Our first stop, Villa Fried Chicken (inside the Bramble Super Market) on Bramble Avenue, Madisonville, OH.

GRADE: D
The "chicken" was extremely processed (we think mostly transfat, plastic and olestra). No breading. Obscenely greasy. Overall, hard to actually swallow, but we (at least David and Kyle) did in fact get it into our stomachs.

QUESTIONABLE LEVEL: 8 (of 10)
Had we been mugged or held at gunpoint, it would have been a 10, but as it were, 8 probably suffices. There was no exterior entrance (you entered thru the "super" market). Permanent bars on the entire facade. No other patrons. Cleanliness rating of -17.

CONTACT NAME: (NA)

QUOTE:
"I ain't even tryin' to go outside today!" - server/cook/owner?/janitor

NOTES/PHOTOS:

Note that there is no entrance. This almost kept us from going. Luckily, we ventured in.

Notice the menu, handwritten (for that touch of kitsch), plus "Grits All Day" (you're not gonna find that at Friday's!)

Also of note, the connecting store offered 15 varieties of 40oz beers. 15. Different kinds. 15.

There is a shot there of my sandwich, horrible. (I'm personally done with all chicken products for a while).

And, as mentioned above, we think the "cook" was also the janitor of the super market. Chicken-a-la-409. Yum.

One final note worthy attribute (and further proof that this place MUST be a front for something), when I went to hand the cashier/owner/janitor my money (I paid 8 bucks for 2 sandwiches), there was approximately 6 one dollar bills in the cash register. That's all. No coins, no other bills. The guy actually dug into his pocket looking for change. Did I mention that this was at 12:30pm (some establishments call that the "lunch rush")?
